First let me warn everyone that I am no more an expert in Georgian Language
than I am an expert in cold fusion, worm holes or time travel. (Georgian is much
harder  ;D )

I have managed to learn a few words (very few) and since we have to date
99 Georgian MySpace friends most of which happen to be attractive gals, I
have enlisted their help to put together a number of words and phrases.

If you know a word or phrase please feel free to add it to the thread.
Please no horsing around posting Heywouldjablowme is a romantic Georgian
word that all Georgian girls get week in the knees over.

If I manage to get a Georgian girl or two to help here, please give them a
warm welcome.

Gmadlobt (Thank you )

Bill

Georgian Language romantic / tender / useful words and phrases
« Reply #1 on: March 12, 2010, 07:17:29 PM »
The imaginary Georgian girl will be called Sally. Since I haven't seen any
Sally's in Georgia it's easier to imagine that Sally is imaginary.

Gamarjoba = Hello
Gagimarjos = hello (what you say back to someone saying hello)

Rogar khar? = how are you?
Kargad = well or good bye
Kargi = good
Kargod = well
These are good responses to Rogar Khar

Me var Billi = I am Bill
Me mkvia Bili = my name is Bill

Nakhvamdis = good bye

Ki = yes
ara = no
an = or
ki an ara = yes or no
Xom = ok and sometimes yes
Xo = ok
gasagebia = I see
You won't be using gasagebia a lot  :chuckle:

Ver gavige = I don’t understand
Bills most commonly used Georgian phrase

Gmadlobt = thank you
Madloba = thanks
arafris = u r welcome,  or not at all

shavi chai = black tea
minda shavi chai = I want black tea

Kochagh = molodetz (Russian word) = good boy / girl  or atta boy
Have success = carmatebas gisurveb!

mshvidobiani dghe = peaceful day
(as in "have a peaceful day" )

ghame mshvidobisa good night
dzili nebisa  = sleep tight (approximately)
tkbili dzili = sweet dreams

nichieri = capable
It is a compliment to be called nichieri

Var = you
medzineba = i am sleepy
how much does it cost? = ra Ghirs?

angelozis tvalebi = angel eyes
ori angelozi  =  two angels

Sally shen gaqvs saocari gimili  = Sally has pretty eyes

Vkhumrobdi = I need to find out what this is
(no really I don't know what this means)

Dear Bill

So would " minda shavi Chacha" mean you would get this ?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chacha_(liquor)

Chacha is traditionally a clear fruit homebrew, which is sometimes called "vine vodka," "grape vodka," or "Georgian vodka." Chacha is made of grape pomace (grape residue left after making wine). It can also be produced from non-ripe or non-cultured grapes and, in some cases, figs, tangerines, oranges, or mulberries.

Since Georgia is widely regarded as the birthplace of the cultivated grape more than 7,000 years ago, chacha is likely one of the oldest distilled products in the world, though such technology as needed for pot stills would date little more than 1,000 years old.

Oh, that is a good one for me to know, I tell enough jokes that are not always understood.
I asked someone how to say it and spell it then forgot to write down what it meant in English.

One of our Georgian friends / romantics on MySpace sent me this. I will try to get a
transliteration done, since I doubt that many can read the curly letters  ;D

Alena, how would a man send his cherished girl happy birthday wishes?

In Russian I know this phrase

Я желаю тебе крепкого здоровья!
Я желаю тебе долгих и счастливых лет жизни!
И самое главное, Я желаю тебе счастья - безмерного счастья! каждый день!

What would Georgian phrase be?
