I believe you are truthful when revealing your present earnings.

Generally my work gives editors heartburn (ulcers too and one even claimed heartache) but your writing would cause mass suicides in any edit pool.  :chuckle:

So, since we're in the same boat, allow me to encourage you to study the link offered upthread because if administrators at the Korean University understand English, your teaching tenure will be shortlived.

Just one local note regarding grammar:

Quote
Its an investment, like an apprentice if you will

Living in Nikolayev with all that shipbuilding going on everywhere, let's make that "apprenticeship" and see what happens.

We're not beating up on you however one must be genuinely fearful not only for your Korean students, but also for you if teaching English is a career path you hope to follow for the next several days years.

How difficult is it to obtain a South Korean driver's license?

BTW, and please accept my deep apologies for pulling this thread off of the topic of your grammar, I'm very familiar with Nikolayev and have encountered some of the most genuine people, and very beautiful ladies in that region.

I reckon it is much harder than posting at KoreanWomen.com something like "Transfers from Seoul \ Incheon airport to ... with English-speaking driver - $100 only!"

Olga, I think he'll also need special permits to drive a taxi in Seoul, right? Maybe he'll get lucky and they'll want those filled out in Korean.

This is getting too far.

By the way libraryonline.com is interesting. I found a few interesting things there (grammar). And a funny quote pertinent to this board:

Quote
An English professor wrote the words:  "A woman without her man is nothing" on the board and asked his students to punctuate it correctly.

All of the males in the class wrote:  "A woman, without her man, is nothing."

All the females in the class wrote:   "A woman: without her, man is nothing."

It's not outrageous but if you have some local knowledge you can save some money. The last trip through Odessa to Kherson was $75. Kherson is 65km past Nikolayev when traveling from Odessa.

You'll like this quote Boris, taken from http://www.getmarriednow.com/office_kherson.shtml

'Austrian Airlines provides non-stop service to Vienna from North America, and non-stop service from Vienna to Odessa, Ukraine. Our staff will be there to pick you up in Odessa upon your arrival for the short car ride to Kherson.'

As for all the grammar bashing, I am not teaching anyone here how to speak or understand English, if I worried about grammar while writing notes on the internet I would be a freakin head case.

I teach people how to communicate in english, not to get anal about it. Most of my students have been studying English for years, but cant even communicate yet.

My favourite is the professional translators that speak English tainted with so much Russian you might as well call it Runglish.
Look, we're gonna spend half the night driving around the Hills looking for this one party and you're going to say it sucks and we're all gonna leave and then we're gonna go look for this other party. But all the parties and all the bars, they all suck. <-Same goes for forums!

Yeah.....

I bet it would be absolutely terrible for you to be viewed as a competent professional, especially here with so many folks visiting and who may have spouses, fiancees or girlfriends for whom they might be looking to find a competent, professional English teacher.

That would be horrible, wouldn't you agree? That's okay though we'd hate to be responsible for anyone stroking out as a result of posting here. Well, except ****** **, ****, ******,*****, etc..

Not sure what you are talking about. I do (both in Russian and English), and I am not, as you put it, a freaking head :) And so do most people, and they aren't either. It is just being lazy that is in the way; has more to do with being careful than literate.

I once worked with an Australian (by the way!) and he was terrible to understand. I felt I had no English at all and all that I had studied was wasted. Then I overheard him talking on the phone. He was speaking perfect English!!! It turned out he had been speaking to his boss… In Russian we say: we can when we must, can’t we? I guess the same applies to writing.

For professionals who use language daily however, it's second nature. We naturally write like we speak.

Ouch!
“Socialism, like the ancient ideas from which it springs, confuses the distinction between government and society. As a result of this, every time we object to a thing being done by government, the socialists conclude that we object to its being done at all.” – Frédéric Bastiat

That would be horrible, wouldn't you agree? That's okay though we'd hate to be responsible for anyone stroking out as a result of posting here. Well, except ****** **, ****, ******,*****, etc..

I write regularly on many websites, posts, to family and friends and I have limited time to write to all and couldnt care less about grammar when I am trying to punch out 30 words a minute.

As it goes for being a competent professional, I have taught English at a university in Australia and am currently teaching at a private language school in Ukraine, a country with the fourth best educational system in the world. I have both degrees and diplomas associated with teaching both the  English language and in other fields. Unlike some, I am actually living here dating Russian women, working with them and overall having a blast, for all you know I have been with your girl.

Geez, get a life, it would be absolutely terrible for you to be viewed as a complete loser, especially here with so many folks who actually have a life. That would be horrible, wouldnt you agree?

If you get a minute check out Bruce's TR - Its not quite finished, however its still a pretty good read IMHO.

If I win the lottery I'll finish it this week if not I'll probably complete it when I retire!!! Until then I hope you enjoy the story so far!

You've mistaken me for someone who cares what you or others may or may not think. I unlike you stand on my own and have quite an enjoyable life. Unfortunately for our newest wannabe forum spammer and dolt like braggart, it appears your ill equipped to competently and professionally portray both your skills and professionalism. It seems now perhaps your suffering from projection and envy.. :coffeeread:   :8)

Any other lack luster insults to throw our unauthentic Native American (Aussie) poser? Perhaps 'Aborigine' would have been a more apropos nom de guerre for you since it appears 'Retardate' has already been claimed.
